Women and trauma
Women’s Trauma Therapy
Trauma is not only the event. It is what your body, relationships, and self-worth did to get you through it. Many women show up competent, high-functioning, and privately exhausted. This room is for that. We go at a pace you can stand. You stay in charge of what we open, and when.
This may be you if...
- You look “fine” and feel far from yourself
- Your body stays on alert: sleep, stomach, jaw, startle
- Intimacy, trust, or anger got complicated and stayed that way
- You minimize what happened because others had it “worse”
- Old harm keeps showing up in work, parenting, or who you choose
- Anxiety, ADHD, or depression is in the mix and nobody treated the root
- You are done explaining your story to people who flinch
This includes childhood harm, relationship and medical trauma, sexual violence, grief layered on top of trauma, and the slower wear of living in a body the world does not treat as safe. You do not need a single clean narrative to start.
How we work
Trauma-informed here is not a poster on the wall. It means you set the pace. We do not dig for details you are not ready to tell. We pay attention to safety, choice, and what happens in your nervous system in the room.
In session that can sound like:
- Making sense of survival strategies without calling them your personality
- Working with anxiety, shutdown, people-pleasing, and numbness as information
- Room for anger, grief, and the parts that still expect the other shoe
- Skills for between sessions when they help — not as a way to skip the hard thing
- Naming gender, power, and the systems around the harm, not only “coping”
I work integratively and collaboratively. If a more specialized trauma protocol would serve you better, we will say that out loud instead of forcing a fit.
