Mental Healthcare Services
Mental Healthcare
You do not have to arrive with a tidy diagnosis. People come here with anxiety, ADHD, old trauma, relationship strain, identity questions, and the quiet sense that life is heavier than it should be. Mental healthcare in this room means talk, honesty, and a plan you help write — in person in DeKalb or by video in Illinois.
This may be you if...
- Anxiety, panic, and the low hum that never clocks out
- ADHD, focus, burnout, and the shame that tags along
- Depression, numbness, or feeling far from yourself
- Trauma and the ways it still runs the day
- Relationship and family stress, including couples work
- Life transitions, grief, and “I do not recognize my life”
- Identity, gender, sexuality, and the cost of translating yourself
- The mix of all of the above, which is more common than a single label
How we work
This is therapy, not a wellness slogan. Sessions are collaborative. You stay in charge of pace. I use an integrative approach — including CBT, DBT skills, ACT, and relational work — and I will not bury you in jargon to look busy.
In session that can sound like:
- A free phone consult to see if we are a fit
- A first session that maps what is heaviest and what you want from the work
- Goals we revisit, not a binder you never open
- Practice between sessions when it actually helps
- Humor when the room can hold it. Directness when you need it
- Social-justice-informed and trauma-informed care, including for women and LGBTQ+ clients
I might not be your “average” therapist. I will be straight with you, back your strengths, and make space for the parts that feel messy.
