Kids and Teens therapy
Kids & Teens
Pre-teens and teens often know something is off long before they have language for it. Anxiety, ADHD, identity, friendship fallout, home stress — it all lands in a body that is still becoming itself. Therapy here is straightforward, respectful, and a little human. Not a lecture. Not a worksheet factory.
This may be you if...
- Worry, panic, or “what if” thinking is running the day
- Focus, homework, or time management keeps turning into a fight
- Mood swings, shutdowns, or anger that feels bigger than the moment
- Friend groups, social media, or school have become the whole weather system
- They are questioning identity, sexuality, or where they belong
- Something at home or in the past is sitting on them and they will not say it at the dinner table
- They used to be easy to reach, and now you get one-word answers
How we work
I meet the young person first as a person. We figure out what they want help with, not only what the adults are worried about. Humor is allowed. So is silence, for a bit.
In session that can sound like:
- Naming anxiety, ADHD, and mood in plain language
- Skills they can actually use at school, at home, and in their phone
- Room for identity, friends, and the pressure to look fine
- Trauma-informed pacing. We do not force a story they are not ready to tell
- Check-ins with parents that protect the teen’s privacy and still keep you in the loop
I work integratively (including CBT and DBT skills when they help) and keep it collaborative. They stay in charge of pace as much as is safe and appropriate.
